Thanks to all of the support from the CADASIL community and the Orphan Disease Center, the Million Dollar Bike Ride (MDBR) held in Philadelphia on June 11, 2022, raised an amazing $117,734 for CADASIL research. A number of applicants submitted grant applications last fall, and an independent group of experts from the Orphan Disease Center selected one applicant to receive the award. In January they announced that Fabrice Dabertrand, University of Colorado, will receive the 2022 MDBR award. His project “Advance in PIP2 Treatment to Restore Capillary Blood Flow” will further explore the role of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), on brain dysfunction in CADASIL that is thought to be caused by reduced blood flow. His project will examine the effects of PIP2 treatment on blood flow to the brain in a mouse model of CADASIL. This is an important step to eventually finding possible treatments that will improve blood flow to the brain in patients with CADASIL.
cureCADASIL plans to take part in the 10th annual MDBR this year in our ongoing effort to support research to find treatments and ultimately a cure for CADASIL. Watch for more information to ride in the MDBR with Team CADASIL in Philadelphia, PA, on June 10, 2023 (or just donate). Thanks!
