cureCADASIL Auction Fundraiser Starts September 1, 2017

The cureCADASIL Association online auction will be held September 1-7, 2017. Bidding on items will help cureCADASIL Association support programs to increase awareness, education and research for CADASIL.  Proceeds from this auction event will go to cureCADASIL Association programs which are in great need of funding, including our physician outreach, research alliance, and webinar series.

There are auction items donated from large retailers and small business local favorites across the country. So, please tell your friends, family, community. Get everyone in on the auction action!

If you register now on Bidding For Good you will be able to “watch” your favorite items and you will be set up for bidding once the auction opens!  We appreciate the support of the CADASIL community!

The mission of  cureCADASIL is to raise awareness of CADASIL, ensuring it will be universally recognized and understood by the medical community, enabling patients to be correctly diagnosed. We are dedicated to helping patients, families, caregivers, and other supporters touched by CADASIL. We aim to unite patients and the medical community toward the common goal of treatments and, ultimately a cure for this rare genetic disease, by promoting Communication, Advocacy, Research, and Education.

Ragazzo Family Fundraiser

In May 2016, Tony and Janice Ragazzo helped organize a fundraiser at ESM Ferolie in New York, where Tony has worked for many years. The employees really pulled together and raised $550. The Ferolie Family generously matched what was raised, bringing the total donation for  cureCADASIL to $1100. We are so very thankful to the efforts of this company and family for supporting CADASIL research!  Great job!

Soaring Above the Stoarm 5k Run and 1 mile walk for CADASIL 2016

On May 7, the 2nd Annual Soaring Above the Storm 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk took place in Piscataway, NJ. Runners and walkers showed up regardless of the wet and cold weather! Thank you to all sponsors, participants and donors, in-person and virtual, who supported the event this year! Special thanks you to Linz Culcasi and Kathy Montgomery for your time and efforts organizing this fundraiser!

There was a CADASIL patient photo board created for the first 5K event in 2015.  It was displayed again for the 2016 event.  An additional photo board was displayed this year with new photo submissions. The photos show CADASIL patients from all around the world.

Member and patient Vanessa Prontnicki was the spokesperson for the 2016 event. She is shown to the left with her husband Jeff. Her uncle Bill Hall wrote on her Facebook post after the event: “Vanessa….

Runners and walkers who could not attend the event in New Jersey joined and participated in their local areas as “virtual” events.

This was our second year to participate in this event that brings awareness and donated funds to CADASIL. cureCADASIL Trustees Janice Ragazzo and Anne McGuinness did a great job and had fun raising awareness for CADASIL at the game!

On February 7th, 2016 CADASIL patient Vanessa Prontnicki was honored at a “Dine & Donate” fundraiser organized by parents from the school where she teaches. Over $1200 in proceeds raised at MaGerk’s Pub in Fort Washington, PA that night were donated to cureCADASIL. About 200 people came out for the event, and it was televised in the local area. How can I support cureCADASIL Association’s Mission?

Looking for ideas on how to help raise money for cureCADASIL Association toward our goals and mission? Here are some suggestions. We welcome yours, so please share them with us by emailing us at: info@curecadasil.org

Gifts: Looking for the perfect gift for someone on your list? Making a donation to cureCADASIL Association in honor of someone touched by this disease is a loving gesture.

GoodSearch.com: Join GoodSearch to raise funds for cureCADASIL Association! GoodSearch donates money to your favorite cause when you search the Internet, shop online or dine out at local restaurants! Use GoodSearch.com to search the Internet and they donate a penny per search to your cause. Go to www.goodsearch.com/nonprofit/cadasil-association.aspx to get started.

Make Change for Charity: Toss that spare change from your pocket or purse into a container. Once every few months, locate a Coinstar machine at your local grocery or discount store and donate the cash you receive back to cureCADASIL Association. This would also work well in a school setting.

One Thing I can Do: Your days are busy, and if you have CADASIL, sometimes filled with painful symptoms. Instead of thinking of all the many ways you can help make a difference, pick just one and follow through on it. One person doing one thing can help toward awareness and ultimately funding toward a cure.

Know someone who owns a business? Make a call today and ask if the business could host an event to benefit cureCADASIL Association. Many businesses in our communities are willing to partner with a good cause. One example: An ice cream shop allowed a charity to display their sign next to a receipt fishbowl by the cash register for one day. Patrons “donated” their receipt. The charity was given 5% of total receipts for the day! A restaurant in your area may be happy to do this with you!

Another example: A friend who sells products through home parties donated a percentage of sales at a party organized by a member of the charity. Make that call today!

Garage sale: After the holiday season, clean out those closets and pick a date for a spring or summer garage sale! Enlist friends and neighbors who may want to help, and have fun together while supporting cureCADASIL Association.

Electronic donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated at: www.curecadasil.org/donate
