Leave a Lasting Legacy for CADASIL Research

A planned gift to cureCADASIL ensures that the fight to find a cure continues for future generations of patients and families touched by this disease.

📜

What Is Planned Giving?

A planned gift — sometimes called a legacy gift — is a donation you arrange today that is fulfilled at a future date, most often through your estate. Unlike an annual gift, a planned gift often represents one of the most significant contributions a donor can make. It requires no cash outlay now, and it can be changed at any time. Many donors who make planned gifts are not wealthy — they simply care deeply about the cause and want their values to outlast them.

Why Leave a Legacy Gift to cureCADASIL?

🔬

Fund Research That Doesn't Yet Exist

CADASIL research is still in its early stages. Legacy gifts fund the long-term, sustained science that grants and annual donations cannot always reach.

❤️

Honor Someone You Love

Many planned gifts are made in memory of — or in honor of — a family member or friend affected by CADASIL. Your gift keeps their name and spirit alive in the research community.

🌱

Your Values Outlast You

A bequest is one of the most personal statements you can make. It tells future generations what you believed in and what you were willing to stand behind.

Ways to Make a Planned Gift

📋 Most Common

Bequest by Will or Living Trust

The simplest and most popular form of planned giving. Name cureCADASIL in your will or living trust to leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residue after other gifts are made. You can change it at any time during your lifetime.

🏦 Easy & Flexible

Beneficiary Designation

Name cureCADASIL as the beneficiary — or contingent beneficiary — of a retirement account (IRA, 401k, 403b), life insurance policy, bank account, or investment account. This passes directly to us outside of probate and requires only a simple form from your financial institution.

Retirement accounts are often the most tax-efficient assets to leave to charity — your heirs pay income tax on inherited IRA funds, but a nonprofit like cureCADASIL does not.

💸 For IRA Owners 70½+

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are 70½ or older, you can give up to $111,000 per year directly from your IRA to cureCADASIL tax-free — satisfying your Required Minimum Distribution while reducing your taxable income.

📈 Income + Legacy

Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)

Transfer assets into a trust that pays you (and/or a beneficiary) income for life or a set term. At the end of the trust, the remaining assets pass to cureCADASIL. You receive an immediate partial tax deduction and avoid capital gains on appreciated assets transferred into the trust.

We recommend consulting an estate planning attorney to establish a CRT.

🎁 Lifetime Income

Charitable Gift Annuity

Make a gift to cureCADASIL in exchange for fixed lifetime payments to you. Rates depend on your age — older donors receive higher rates. You receive a partial charitable deduction in the year of the gift.

🏠 Real Estate & Other Assets

Gifts of Property or Other Assets

You may be able to give real estate, closely held stock, or other non-cash assets to cureCADASIL. These gifts often carry significant tax advantages. Please contact us to discuss the details before making this type of gift.
